WhatsApp rates per delivered message in India
Meta charges when a message is delivered, not when it is sent. The rate depends on the message category and on the country calling code of the number you send to.

Authentication-international applies only to businesses Meta deems eligible, and only when the business is based in a different country from the recipient.
Eligibility means more than 750,000 messages outside customer service windows in a moving 30-day period to countries with such a rate. Source

- Service messages, the non-template replies you send inside the 24-hour customer service window without Meta Business Agent, are now charged after 1,000 free a month per business phone number.
- Utility templates sent inside an open customer service window, which were free until 30 September 2026, are now charged at the utility rate.
What a month of WhatsApp messages costs in India
Monthly totals on the rate card from 1 October 2026. Utility and authentication include Meta's volume tiers, which lower the rate only for the messages inside each tier.

Good to know about WhatsApp pricing in India
- Meta charges India's utility list rate on the first 25,000,000 utility messages a month. After that, five volume tiers step down to 30% below it. Source
- Meta has told eligible businesses billed in India to move every Messaging account (formerly WhatsApp Business account) in their portfolio to INR billing by 31 December 2026. Source
- From 1 January 2027, Meta stops delivering messages from those businesses' accounts that are not billed in INR. Source

- India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 says consent must be free, specific, informed, unconditional and unambiguous, and can be withdrawn at any time with ease comparable to giving it. Source
